Six sets of guide rail hydraulic goods lifts for pharmaceutical factory, compliant with EN 1570
In April 2025, our company received a formal inquiry from a pharmaceutical manufacturer based in London, the United Kingdom, requesting multiple sets of guide rail hydraulic goods lifts.
This enterprise has long been engaged in the production of pharmaceutical raw materials. Driven by growing overseas orders and expanded product lines, the warehouse and material transfer space of its original factory can no longer support its current production capacity. The company therefore plans to build a brand-new three-storey standardized production plant near Southampton, which will be used for raw material storage, pharmaceutical preparation processing, finished product packaging and other production procedures.
Basic core parameters of the equipment provided by the client in the initial communication:
Maximum lifting height: 8 metres, 3 stops
Basic platform dimensions: 4 m × 6 m
Rated load capacity: 9,000 kg
After receiving the inquiry, our international sales and technical team jointly conduct solution assessment with structural and hydraulic engineers, and issue complete structural general drawings, hydraulic schematics and detailed breakdown quotation.
Given the extra-large platform size and nearly 9-ton heavy-load working conditions specified in the client’s initial requirements, offset loading such as one-sided material stacking and center-of-gravity shift is highly likely to occur during loading and unloading.
Long-term offset loading may lead to guide rail deformation, unbalanced stress on hydraulic cylinders, jerky lifting movement and even the risk of platform collapse.
Safety configurations are upgraded from the standard model with extra dedicated anti-fall and synchronous leveling chains. Multiple chain sets evenly share platform loads to guarantee horizontal lifting under any cargo layout, satisfying high-frequency heavy-duty applications in pharmaceutical workshops.
After sending the complete customized solution, drawings and quotation to the client, we received feedback that the overall plant planning is still under drawing submission and approval.
Government approval has not yet been obtained for plant civil engineering, floor layout and the goods lift shaft position, and physical construction of the factory building has not commenced. Procurement of all types of equipment can only proceed after the overall planning is approved.
The client requests our patience and states that they will keep us updated promptly once there is any new progress.
Two months later, in September 2025, the customer formally issued the updated general construction drawing of the factory building.
The drawing marked a total of six locations within the plant requiring installation of guide rail hydraulic goods lifts.
The six units differ greatly in working conditions, shaft dimensions, load capacity, loading/unloading directions and supporting functions.
Among them, Lift No.1 and No.2 share one common civil pit, while the other four lifts adopt independent shafts. All units are uniformly equipped with enclosed metal safety mesh guards to comply with the mandatory isolation protection requirements for industrial lifting equipment specified in EN1570.
Our technical team sorted out the detailed technical specifications for each of the six lifts one by one and formulated exclusive production and installation schemes respectively.
The customer also put forward two mandatory operational requirements:
First, the lifting speed shall not be too low.
The stable operating speed must reach 10 meters per minute under both unladen and fully loaded conditions to guarantee the transfer efficiency of bulk raw materials.
Second, the equipment needs to operate intermittently around the clock.
The two-shift production schedule in the workshop subjects the motor to prolonged high-load operation. In high-temperature environments, the motor is highly prone to overheating shutdown, resulting in production line interruptions.
To address this pain point, we equip the drive motor with an independent air-cooled cooling unit. It continuously provides forced cooling for the motor housing and windings during operation, greatly extending the equipment’s continuous operating duration and adapting to the all-day production rhythm of pharmaceutical plants.
All six goods lifts of this project are designed and manufactured in compliance with the EU safety standard EN1570 for industrial lifting equipment. Before delivery, complete machine load testing, anti-fall safety testing, continuous running ageing testing and electrical safety inspections will be carried out. We will also provide a full CE Declaration of Conformity, third-party type test certificates and a complete set of English technical drawings, to satisfy the requirements for factory approval and pre-commissioning safety inspections at the Southampton plant in the UK.
