Wheelchair lift in Thaliand
The new project is located in a newly-built nursing home in northern Bangkok, Thailand. The nursing home houses a large number of elderly people and individuals with mobility impairments. To improve the living quality, an elevator is required on the premises, and it must be spacious enough to accommodate hospital beds.
However, the nursing home construction overlooked the requirements for the overhead height and pit depth of a Bed elevator, resulting in insufficient dimensions for installing such an elevator. Therefore, the client intends to adopt a hydraulic structure to meet the needs.
On-site dimensions:
1-2 floors,
2-Load capacity requirement of 1000 kg;
3-Shaft dimensions: 2400*2650 mm;
4-Overhead height: 2850 mm;
5-Pit depth: 500 mm;
6-Automatic center-opening doors with door opening dimensions exceeding 1100 mm.
Initially, the client’s proposal was a scissor lift structure combined with a car. This structure can meet the dimensional requirements, yet it has numerous drawbacks during operation:
- The scissor lift structure is typically designed for cargo transportation
- High noise level
- Slow running speed
- Prone to shaking
After reviewing the proposal, we concluded that a wheelchair lift would be more suitable for the client’s on-site conditions.
However, a standard wheelchair lift can only achieve a load capacity of 400 kg with a maximum dimension of 1100*1400 mm, which fails to meet the required dimension of 1580*2200 mm.
Therefore, we designed a dual-rail support structure, which not only satisfies the load capacity and dimension requirements but also ensures greater operational stability of the equipment.
Advantages:
- Silent motor ensures low noise emission; a frequency converter is added for smooth operation
- Higher running speed, up to 0.15-0.2 m/s
- Suitable for passenger use
- Better compatibility with the automatic door operator, enabling smoother operation
- Meets the requirement of 2850 mm overhead height simultaneously
- Door opening width reaches 1100 mm, easily accommodating the passage of hospital beds
- Long handrails are installed on both sides of the car to facilitate gripping for the elderly during rides
- Bright lighting and fans are added inside the car
