Customer Background: Two Inquiries, Clear Signals

Last July, we received two inquiries from Australian customer Gavin – first through our company website, and then via the Made-in-China platform. When the same customer reaches out through two different channels, the XYZLIFT team knows: this is a highly motivated buyer.

We responded immediately, got in touch with Gavin, and quickly confirmed the main elevator parameters.

Customer Requirements & Key Parameter

Gavin needed two symmetrically arranged elevators with a wall between them. His initial preference was a traction  backpack structure with manual sliding doors. The reason: his concrete hoistway measured only 1400mm × 1400mm, and he believed only a cantilever design could maximize car space.

The two elevators face opposite directions but share identical specifications:

ParameterDate
Pit Depth200 mm
First Floor Height3500 mm
Second Floor Height2850 mm
Concrete Hoistway (Inner)1400 mm × 1400 mm

XYZLIFT's Professional Solution: Winning Trust Through Technical Advice

1. Proposing a Better Structural Design

After receiving the requirements, we discussed the project in depth with our engineers. Our conclusion: even with the limited hoistway size, a sling (guide-rail frame) structure is absolutely feasible. With this design, the internal car size can still reach 1000mm (W) × 1200mm (D) – more than sufficient for a residential home elevator.

The shaft plan layout view of traction gantry home elevator as below:

We suggested switching to the gantry structure and provided a clear comparison between gantry structure and backpack structure designs:

Comparison BackpackGantry – Recommended
Car Space EfficiencyRails on one side, limiting car sizeRails on both sides, larger car space
Operational StabilityOff-center loads create tilting momentBalanced loading for smoother operation
Long-term ReliabilityUneven guide shoe wearEven wear, longer service life

After reviewing the comparison, Gavin approved our professional recommendation and confirmed the gantry structure solution.

Factory Visit: Building Deep Trust

In August, we followed up with Gavin on the project progress. We were pleased to learn that his friend planned to visit suppliers in China in September, and Gavin decided to join the trip to tour our factory.

In September, Gavin and his friend arrived as planned. At our elevator showroom, he personally tested a running elevator. Using the actual product, we once again explained the differences between backpack and gantry structures. After the hands-on experience, Gavin was fully convinced of the gantry structure solution

Local Customer Referral: Accelerating the Decision

During the factory tour, Gavin mentioned he would like to contact an existing XYZLIFT customer in Australia to hear about real-world experiences. We provided him with the contact information of our long-term customer, Tony.

After returning to Australia, Gavin reached out to Tony. To his pleasant surprise, Tony not only shared his positive experience but also visited Gavin’s site to help measure the hoistway in person. Having a local XYZLIFT customer as a “living reference” significantly boosted Gavin’s confidence.

Soon after, Gavin confirmed the elevator finishing options and entrusted Tony with local logistics clearance and installation.

Current Status & Outlook

The two home elevators have now been manufactured and shipped to Australia, with arrival expected this month. We look forward to Gavin’s feedback and are confident that these elevators will provide his family with years of convenience and comfort.
