Two Villa Elevators Project in Sydney-2
We received an inquiry for the Nassif residential elevator project from a client in Sydney on January 30, 2026.
This project involves the renovation of a semi-detached villa locally, where two domestic elevators will be installed side by side back-to-back in a symmetrical layout.
The two elevators share an existing concrete partition wall in the middle. The rest of the shaft is enclosed with full aluminum alloy frames. The aluminum & glass shaft is available in multiple color options. Featuring a solid structure and minimalist appearance, it blends perfectly with the original interior style of the villa.
The basic operating parameters required by the client are as follows:
Lift height: 1st to 2nd Floor: 3 m; 2nd to 3rd Floor: 3 m

6.The Shaft on the 1st floor is made of concrete, while those on other floors adopt aluminum alloy structure. The elevator is equipped with a glass panoramic car.

The shaft and door opening dimensions of the two elevators are largely similar with minor deviations, forming a symmetrical shaft layout.
To suit daily household use, large item transportation, as well as accessibility for the elderly and wheelchair users, the client requires a car size of 1100×1400 mm. This ensures a spacious and comfortable interior for easy wheelchair access.
Given the actual shaft space on site, we abandoned the conventional rear counterweight design and adopted a side counterweight solution. This layout maximizes the car interior space within the limited shaft dimensions to fully meet the required car size of 1100×1400 mm.
Per local regulations, the clear opening width of residential elevator doors must be 900 mm, a strict requirement for final acceptance. We first evaluated the centre-opening door option. Due to the limited shaft dimensions, a conventional centre-opening door would only provide a maximum clear width of 750 mm, which fails to meet the 900 mm standard. This would result in inspection failure and impede daily access, so this solution was discarded.
While a swing door can achieve the 900 mm opening width, it occupies entry space when opened and creates inconvenience for wheelchair users. This option was also eliminated.
After thorough comparison and calculation, the automatic side sliding door was selected as the best solution. Its space-efficient structure is well suited to the narrow shaft on site, delivering a full 900 mm clear opening that fully complies with Australian codes.
Equipped with an automatic door system, it operates smoothly and easily, perfectly fitting residential usage. This design achieves an ideal balance of compliance, practicality and comfort.

This is a typical villa elevator retrofitting project featuring narrow shaft, spacious car and strict compliance requirements. By combining side counterweight structure with automatic side sliding doors, we have successfully addressed three key challenges: limited shaft space, the client’s demand for a large car, and local regulations on door opening width.
The elevator is fitted with an enclosed aluminum alloy shaft, which is lightweight, well-sealed and neat in appearance to match the villa’s interior style.
